I remember when I was a single mom and could not afford professional photos although newborn photos were really not a trend back then I am talking 1998, the stores like Sears, JC Penny’s and Target was where you would go for fast photos. So yes I did get photos from Sears with my first born and I do treasure those photos but photography has come a long ways with newborns and families. When I had my second baby in 2002 I receive a mailer from a local photographer that was offering a special for newborns at the time we were struggling finically but I really wanted photos with my baby girl so I scheduled a session with him. I remember during the session viewing I wanting all the photos he took but it just was not feasible financially so he helped me pick my favorites.
When I went to get my associates in photography in 2012 I knew I wanted to do portrait photography but that is such a wide genre. During my time at the Art Institute I realize that babies and children where my passion and when you have a passion go with it! I get such joy when I sit down with my families to view their galleries, yes there is usually tears, ohhh’s and awww’s and how did you get that photo, it makes my heart happy!
I feel it is so important to capture photos of your new little ones, they grow so fast and capturing those little features of your little one are precious. I don’t want any family to feel like they cannot afford photos, I am now offering swaddling mini sessions for newborns. Please feel free to contact me for more info. about these sessions.
I had a local photographer reach out to me for a family friend that really wanted photos of her baby boy. Baby was already born when I was put in contact with them, I am so thankful I was available to get her into my studio, we got some precious photos.
You can tell this sweet mama is just in love with her baby boy.
